Chapter Six: Sasha Fire

Joy walked into the party dressed in her best white cocktail dress, nude pumps and small white clutch. She had not packed for a formal party but luckily had brought her favorite dress with her, which turned out to be perfect for the event. She had never hob knobbed with the rich and famous before and this was the first time many of them would be meeting her. She wanted to be herself and not try to dress to impress them. The simple elegance of her dress was a testament to the woman she was.

The party was an unexpected affair that Liam was invited to up in the Hamptons. Word had gotten around that he was in town and everyone wanted him to make the rounds. He decided this was the only one he would attend, not wanting to overwhelm Joy. It was the annual white party, which boasted celebrities, political figures, and wealthy power brokers.

Joy had stepped out of the bathroom after sliding into her dress stunned at the sight of Liam in his white suit. He was fumbling with his tie as he turned to look at her.

“Wow! Beautiful…”

Joy blushed under his approving gaze. She felt good but the look in his eyes made her feel stunning. She smiled as she walked up to help him with his tie.

“You’re not so bad yourself you know.” Liam kissed her as she adjusted his silver silk tie.

“Baby I honestly don’t think you realize how incredibly gorgeous you are. I have never seen anyone look more beautiful.”

“Thanks Liam.”

She shrugged off his comments. She had never thought of herself in that light, refusing to let it go too much to her head. She chose to focus more on her intellect rather than the external; good looks were ephemeral after all. She had to admit that it did feel good to be on the arm of such a stunning man that everyone seemed to like and respect.
